Tampa Bay Millworks Swing Door Introduction

A Swing door consists of hinges that allow the door to swing open. The common components of a pre-hung swing door consist of hinges, door jamb, and door stop.  The jamb and stop make up the frame around the door. You can trim the door using casing if desired.  The illustration is showing a flat casing around the door

This is where sometimes too many choices.  So let's see if we can help narrow it down.  Let us start with do you want a hollow core or solid core.

Hollow core represents an economically friendly door lighter weight less ware and tear on the hardware,  The solid core mostly designed for sound proofing but may also carry a fire rating if proper jambs are used.

The second thing consider is door thickness.. the common door is 1-3/8" thick and the 1-3/4" think door used for fire rated or enhanced density(added sound proofing)

The third think to decide is the design.

If you want glass? How much a full lite, half light, or other?  What glass clear, frosted, rain and so on.. these are specialty doors

What is the width and height of the door needed?  This is important because size can determine if the door is even available.
