BIFOLD DOORS:
A BIFOLD DOOR consists of a pair of panels that collapse together to maximize the opening width. In the image below you will see 4 panels, this is a double bifold which contains 2 Bifolds riding on the same track. A single bifold would be only one pair of folding Panels.

The BIFOLD is a very popular choice in closets because it maximizes the pass-through opening area. Although it does come out in to the room at a length of one panel.

BYPASS DOOR:
The second most Popular Closet Door is the BYPASS DOOR. It gets its name because one door bypasses the other and these doors open one stack behind the other. When closed they cover the opening offset from each other. Mounted by a track on top and sometimes a track on the bottom if no bottom track then door guides.

The BYPASS DOOR consists of 2 door slabs and tracking. The great thing about this is you can match door easily.

BARN DOORS:
This stylish trend has popularity special function behind it. It covers the opening from outside one wall and does require room to park on a wall. This door has its restrictions because of this but new product has come out to solve these limitations.

The most common use for a BARN DOOR is the division of a room such as in a dining area or home office. It can lack the ability to create privacy because in some cases it can't be locked. The original design of a BARN DOOR was to overlap width 2" on each sides and 4" on top. So, an oversize slab was required but this has change one in preference and two in product options. So if you are looking for that trendy look then a BARN DOOR could be for you.

POCKET DOOR:
One of my personal favorites, because this door can appear invisible. The POCKET DOOR does require preplanning if you don't already have existing track. It requires to be install into a wall and plumbing or electrical can be a concern. In addition it needs the room for the frame to fit within the wall.

The door itself can be any common door slab the conforms to common size. As you can see in the image above this door can provide maximum opening space.

PIVOT DOOR:
This is a unique door and it is all about the hardware. The PIVOT DOOR can be any style slab but many prefer the oversize width. Mainly because the pivot system takes up door opening space that reduces the open width clearance.

As you can see from the image above it has a elegant style and many prefer the installation to be flush with no trim.

SWING DOOR:
The SWING DOOR is the common door throughout most homes. It is a hinged door and can use the common door slab. The versatility of this door relies on the hardware where it can be lock if desired or used as a passage door. Hinged on one side and knob or handle on the other.

The latching can be a ball catch or a striker. In the double door on a non locking closet would use a ball catch where the double door used on an office would be with a t-astragal mounted on the in-active door and locking hardware on the active door. These options between privacy, passage singe or double make this SWING DOOR the most used interior door system.

ACCORDION DOORS:
This door is used in spaces where a swing door can't be used because there is no room for the door to swing and a bypass door cant used because the entire opening needs access. Usually in the laundry room.

Although it isn't the popular option it does have its benefits. Widely used in Mobile homes, RV's, and opening that not common sized.
